What We Do
Advisory and Training
Our knowledge and experience in mining, construction and agriculture places us in a unique position to guide and support project stakeholders to sit at the table as equals. Sharing our insights with leaders through written briefs, or engaging in a boardroom or under the tree is our forte.
Through our “scratching where it itches” short course, many project managers and community liaison officers in construction and mining, have been empowered on how to manage the planning and implementation of projects in an environment of ever increasing expectations and demands for local economic participation and benefits. We have been offering the Project Community Risk Management course since 2018, and participants earn CPD points while learning valuable skills.
Local Economic Development
It is our passion, through local stakeholder participation, to identify and implement Social and Labour Plan (SLP) and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives that have positive outcomes and impacts. We conduct household surveys to ensure a local economic development approach that results in the planning and delivery of programmes that are based on human dignity such as in the case of community resettlement and grave relocation. What we do must be geared towards building sustainable communities.
Another passion that we have, is to support communities and corporates to engage on mine closure plans and comply with relevant standards. Social and environmental impacts pre-, during and post-mining activities need to be factored into local economic development plans to ensure livelihoods beyond the life of any mining operation.
Conversations for Change
We initiate and manage material conversations because we believe in the power of dialogue to unlock collaboration and propel progress. Real change starts with having relevant and honest conversations between stakeholders. Poverty, youth unemployment, economic extortion, climate change, just transition, the state of education and health, gender-based violence and many other issues, require focused dialogue sessions for mindset transformation and realistic action steps
Stakeholder Partnerships
Our company is experienced in galvanising stakeholders – government, business, research institutions, civil society formations, local communities and others – to systematically analyse challenges and conflicts, and jointly explore mutually beneficial outcomes. In a modern world that is characterised by the imperatives of doing business in a stable policy setting, improving the quality of life of the under-served sections of society and building a solid foundation of prosperity for future generations, the importance of effective stakeholder engagement is extremely crucial. Our game – stakeholder mapping, public participation, conflict resolution and issues management – is a professional game.
